Frets on Fire lets you become a rock star guitarist, just like the popular Guitar Hero games for PlayStation.

For those of you not lucky enough to have experienced Guitar Hero on PlayStation, Frets On Fire for PC is a great way to give it a try. This fun guitar game lets you feel like the next Jimi Hendrix or Slash by pounding away on your keyboard to some cool rock tunes.

When you launch Frets on Fire, your keyboard becomes your guitar, with the F1-F12 function keys turning into the frets that play out the guitar sections. An equal parts amusing and informative tutorial with master guitar instructor Jurgen will teach you how to get comfortable with Frets on Fire's game controls. Jurgen will also throw hundreds of notes at you all at once and insult you in hilarious ways that really add to the entire Frets on Fire experience.

Unfortunately, Frets on Fire only comes with 3 songs included. You have the option to import more though, as well as make use of the built-in editor to create your own unique tunes. For up and coming Eddie Van Halens, the editor gives you the chance to compose your own tracks. Less advanced users might prefer modifying existing ones though, because it gives you a pattern to work with instead of starting from scratch.

Frets on Fire also has a portable version available so you can take the game with you wherever you go.

Frets on Fire is really a really entertaining game that lets you play out your greatest rock star fantasies, all from the comfort of your Windows PC.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
